Workshop on managing coyotes scheduled for June 9 in Blackstock

SCDNR, the SC Trappers Association and Clemson Extension are holding a coyote trapping workshop on June 9 in Fairfield County.

SCDNR, S.C. Trappers Association, Clemson Extension offer help to landowners

The S.C. Department of Natural Resources, in conjunction with the South Carolina Trappers Association and Clemson Extension, will host a coyote trapping and management workshop at the Blackstock Gymnasium on 228 School Rd. in Blackstock on June 9.

The workshop will begin at 5 p.m. and end at about 9 p.m. Previous trapping experience is not required, but everyone attending will be expected to set traps and participate with the group, hot or cold, rain or shine. This is an extended hands-on trapping workshop for individuals who want to learn to manage coyotes, and it will involve extensive outdoor participation. This workshop will cover such topics as equipment selection, trap modifications, trap preparation, trap site selection, set making, running a trap line and trapping safety.
