Gator measured 10-feet, 8-inches long

South Carolina’s 2025 alligator hunting season came in at noon on Sept. 13, and hunters were out in full force. And one crew hunting in Beaufort, SC bagged a big gator.

Joseph Long entered the gator lottery back in the spring and was awarded a tag. He put together a crew and headed out opening weekend.

“We tagged a 10-foot, 8-inch bull gator weighing 250 pounds in Beaufort,” said Long.

His crew included Aiden Free, Chasity Nichols, Caleb Nichols and Connor Owens.

The gator hunting season runs through Oct. 12 at noon.
