This is a hunt from last year I wanted to share with you guys. This hunt took place in Pineville SC on 11/31/21 the morning before we laid my Granddad to rest. I had deer all around me that morning, bucks fighting and chasing does. Then right as I could see good one of these 8 points stepped out about 20 yards in front of me so I eased the gun up and shot. He ran off into the woods so I started second guessing myself because I knew I had made a good shot and thought he would’ve died right there. 5 minutes later the other 8 point stepped out in the same exact spot with what looked to be the same spread. I thought to myself “there’s no way I missed him and why would he come back?” So with my adrenaline running I decided to take another shot then he ran off into the woods. I thought “man is my rifle off?” But I knew I was spot on at the range a few weeks prior. I waited for about an hour just in case, then climbed down. My father in law picked me up on the side by side to help me look for the deer. When we walked up to where I shot we saw one laying there just inside the woods, but there was still another blood trail. So we followed it another 20 yards and sure enough I had shot 2 8 points. I had never done this before in my life, so I knew my Grandad was there with me that hunt. One I’ll never forget! And a huge thank you to Todd Smith for the opportunity!!
