David Weaver of Blackville, SC killed a 15-point buck in Barnwell County, SC on Oct. 23, 2026.
He shot the buck with a Savage .30-06 during a morning hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 65 yards away.
Weaver summed up the hunt with these words:
“We first got pictures of this deer on Aug. 1, and we knew immediately that he was our target buck on the property. He was the only real mature buck on the property, which is probably where we got the name. He disappeared from the first of August and we didn’t get another picture of him until Oct. 17 during the night.
On the morning of Oct. 23, I decided to sit near an old sandy food plot that never did very well with planting so we just had some corn in a corner of the food plot near a trail the deer used heavily.
At 7:48 a.m. he was the first and only deer to come by that morning. We hadn’t had a daylight picture of him since August. He stepped out of the brush and I shot immediately! I hit him high shoulder and the base of his neck. He dropped right away. It was an incredible morning in God’s Creation!!”
Weaver is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
