NCWRC offering fishing workshops in March

Conventional and fly fishing workshops

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is offering angling-focused workshops for people of all skill levels in March. Online registration is required for the fishing workshops, which are open on a first-come, first-served basis.

March 10 ­– Shallow Water Crappie Tactics from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to all ages, though students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

March 13 – Introduction to Pier Fishing from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a two-part seminar consisting of a classroom portion followed by an optional field trip to a coastal pier at a later date. Open to ages 15 and older.

March 26 – Fly-Tying Forum from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Open to ages 10 and older. Students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Boating course meets NC safe boating requirement

March 30 – April 1 – ABC3 Boating Safety Course from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. nightly. This course, which includes a proctored test, satisfies the North Carolina safe boating requirement for anyone under 26 years of age. Open to ages 14 and older, though students 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center is located at 7489 Raeford Road in Fayetteville, across from Lake Rim. Commission staff at the Pechmann Center conducts fishing workshops, events and clinics throughout the year. Most programs are free and open to the public.
