10-year-old shoots 12-point trophy buck

Trophy buck was hunter’s first deer

On Sept. 21, 2023 we went out on our first set for the year. Olivia Hodges, 10-years-old, was able to get a shot at a once-in-a-lifetime buck. She knew it had a drop tine, but I did not tell her about the other two. She made a great shot at 20 yards with a crossbow. The deer went about 30 yards before he dropped.

We had five other bucks come in, ranging from 4-pointers to 12-pointers, and 6 yards to 20 yards. The buck she killed is a 12-pointer, and it weighed 184.36 pounds. This great buck was her first deer and first buck.
