Rig’Em Right Decoy Anchors for duck hunters on the move

Upstate waterfowlers can find tremendous hunting opportunities on public rivers and lakes, but doing more scouting is key to finding hot spots.

Based in Morehead City, North Carolina, Rig’Em Right Waterfowl owner Matthew Cagle has developed a revolutionary way to collect and store duck decoys without the hassle of tangled lines.

“Our patent-pending, sliding weight decoy anchors have been called the best new product in years in the duck hunting industry,” said Cagle, who designed the outfit based on a red drum fishing rig. “With fast set-up and even faster pick-up, the Rig’Em Right system is trouble free and tangle free.”

Using the system, decoys carry easily with the provided spring clip — no bags are required, nor is there a need to wind the line around the decoy. The sliding egg weight makes tossing out decoys quick and accurate. The decoy system, which have 12 to a package, comes with 30-inch lengths and 4-ounce weights.

Cagle provided some tips on how to best use his innovative system.

“With the existing design of the Rig ‘Em Right sliding weight decoy anchors, the swivels used to attach the anchors to the decoy are intentionally flexible to accommodate various hole configurations on many decoys,” he said. “Keeping them slightly flexible enables the user to bend them to create a more universal fit for multiple decoy brands. It may be necessary to use pliers or a crimping tool to crimp the swivel closed once it is attached to the decoy. This will prevent accidental unclasping of the swivel.”

Based on a recent field test of this product, it was discovered that there’s a knack to getting decoys out quickly.

“When using the sliding weight decoy anchors, we have found that when getting ready to throw out your decoys it’s better to remove all of the decoys from the carabiner clip rather than try to remove one decoy at a time,” advised Cagle. “I like to hold all of the lines in my hand down below any twist in the lines and then remove the carabiner from all of the loops. Then I can easily pull out any one decoy from the bundle and throw it out. If you watch the demo video on our home page, you will see that when I am throwing out the decoys, I am holding all of the decoys without the carabiner attached.”
