Electronic stamps will now be available year-round
As of July 1, The Duck Stamp Modernization Act is in effect, making the Federal Duck Stamp electronically accessible to waterfowl hunters for the entire season. This is a change over previous years, when the stamp was only available electronically for 45 days.
From now on, all Federal Duck Stamps will expire on June 30 of each year, regardless of when they are purchased. This allows waterfowl hunters to carry their electronic stamp on their mobile devices using the Go Outdoors North Carolina and/or Go Outdoors South Carolina app.
The US Fish and Wildlife Service will only mail the physical Federal Duck Stamp after March 10, but you can purchase a physical stamp at your local US Post Office between July 1 and April 1 each year.
On Aug. 1, 2024, the price of the electronic Federal Duck Stamp increased from $27 to $29. They physical stamp is $25 if purchased from the US Post Office.
A total of 98 percent of the purchase price of these stamps are used to acquire and protect wetland habitat, and to purchase conservation easements for the National Wildlife Refuge System. These wetlands help purify water, aid in flood control, reduce soil erosion and sedimentation, and enhance outdoor recreation opportunities.
