Willow Oaks’ role in preparing future hunters

Young hunters watch a presentation as part of Willow Oak Plantation’s QDMA-mentored hunting program.

Judy Gardner, vice president of the North Carolina State Chapter of the Quality Deer Management Association, praised Arthur Dick at Willow Oaks Plantation for their commitment to helping nurture the next generation of hunters.

“Each year, Willow Oaks hosts an educational, mentored hunt for students who have successfully completed the QDMA mentored hunting program (conducted by the Cape Fear River Branch of QDMA),” she said. “Range time, followed by aging and field identification, precede each hunt. Youth hunters then take an active role in collecting data in the field and in the processing station.”
