Lottery turkey hunts being held at multiple locations
Hunters in South Carolina are encouraged to apply for turkey lottery hunts on public lands for the 2024 season. The deadline to apply is March 1.
All applicants for either the Multi-site Turkey Lottery Hunt and the Youth Multi-site Turkey Hunt are required to pay a non-refundable $5 fee.
Lottery hunts with SCDNR will take place at Belfast WMA, Bonneau Ferry WMA, Donnelley WMA, Santee Cooper WMA and Wateree River Heritage Preserve.
Aside from the above mentioned hunts, the South Carolina Wildlife Partnership will also provide lottery-based hunts for those not chosen in SCDNR’s lottery.
The Partnership will receive a list of hunters not selected in SCDNR’s lottery, and will hold another lottery with those names.
Hunters chosen in the Partnership lottery will see no impact on their preference points with SCDNR’s lottery. Hunters can not apply to the Partnership’s lottery alone. They must apply for the SCDNR Turkey Lottery AND opt-in for SCWP in order to be selected for an SCWP hunt.
South Carolina turkey hunters, including those taking part in lottery hunts, must have a hunting license, big game permit and WMA permit, as well as have their turkey tags in possession while hunting. Turkey tags will be available from SCDNR online, by phone, over the counter at SCDNR regional offices and license vendors beginning in mid-February
