• The first segment for South Carolina’s 3-part dove season opens Sept. 2 and runs through Oct. 5, with shooting limited to afternoon for the first six days. The second season is Nov. 23-30, and third season is Dec. 19-Jan. 15. The limit is 15 doves per day.
• A complete county-by-county list of the approximately 50 public dove fields in South Carolina is available from the SCDNR website, www.scdnr.gov, at county extension offices, by writing SCDNR, Attn: Public Dove Fields, PO Box 167, Columbia, 29202 or by calling 803-734-3609. Driving directions are included on the dove field list.
• Hunters are limited to 50 shells per hunt. Entry to fields begins at noon and shooting ends at 6 p.m. the first six days of the season.
