SCOPE honors excellence with 32 awards

The whitetail rut will be in full swing this month across the Carolinas.

More than a dozen journalists receive awards

The South Carolina Outdoor Press Association honored more than a dozen outdoor journalists with 32 awards during its annual meeting last month in Anderson, SC.

Pete Rogers took 1st and 3rd in the Podcast Division and 1st and 2nd for Video.

Mike Watts took 1st for Best Blog, 2nd for Best Book, and 2nd for Electronic Publishing.

Corey and Phillip Hunt took 1st place for Best Blog. Corey also took 1st in the Long Magazine Article category, 3rd for Short Magazine Article, 2nd for Photography, and she won the Bob Glendy Award. Phillip took 1st for Newspaper Article and 3rd for Previous Conference Site category.

Jim Casada took 3rd for Best Blog, 1st for Electronic Publishing, 2nd for Newspaper, and 2nd for Long Magazine Article.

Matt Wongrey took 3rd for Video.

Jon Wongrey took 1st for Best Book, and won the Terry Madewell Award.

Jim Mize finished 3rd in Best Book, 3rd in Electronic Publishing, and 1st in Short Magazine Article.

Terry Madewell took 1st for Previous Conference Site.

Dan Kibler got 2nd for Previous Conference Site.

Whit Gibbons took 3rd for Newspaper.

Jaime Madewell won 1st place for Photography.

Joey Frazier took 3rd for Photography.

Brian Cope took 2nd for Podcast , 3rd for Long Magazine Article, and 2nd for Short Magazine Article.
