Outdoor cooking workshop Nov. 19 at Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education

Participants will learn to cook a meal in a Dutch oven at the Nov. 19 hands-on workshop.

Participants cook and eat at hands-on workshop

Cooking is an art with an obvious reward. And even those who know their way around a kitchen often feel lost when it comes to cooking while on a camping trip. But the NCWRC has the solution with their Outdoor Cooking Workshop, which will be held at the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education on Nov. 19.

The workshop is free, and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Workshop participants will learn to cook an entire meal with a traditional Dutch oven, including dessert. Other cooking methods will also be covered.

Lee Sherrill, Program Coordinator at Pisgah Center, said this workshop is always a big hit with those who attend.

“Participants always have a great time at our Outdoor Cooking Workshops. The ingredients are simple and the recipes are easy to follow so that they can take what they learn at the workshop and apply it during their next camping trip, and best of all, participants get to eat what they prepare,” said Sherrill.

This is a hands-on workshop, and Sherrill suggests participants bring lawn chairs and to dress appropriately for the weather.
