SCDNR will draw tags for 30 hunters

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is accepting applications for the coastal black bear season through Nov. 2. The coastal bear season, which was introduced last year, will include Horry, Williamsburg and Georgetown counties only. The coastal bear hunt dates are Dec. 1-15.

According to Charles Ruth, big-game project coordinator for SCNDR, said 10 tags per county will be made available for the coastal hunt.

A non-refundable application fee of $10 is required. Hunters selected will have the opportunity to purchase a bear tag for $25 ($100 for non-residents). The tags are only valid in the county for which the hunter is drawn.

Hunters receiving tags are required to have a WMA permit to hunt any WMAs. Written permission from landowners is required fro hunting private land.
