NCWRC holding 9 hearings concerning proposed changes to fish and game laws

Meetings are open to the public, held throughout January

Have you ever wondered how fish and game regulations come to be laws? Maybe you’ve wondered if there was a way you could voice your input on changes to these regulations? Yes, you can, and you can find out a lot about how regulations are made by attending one of the upcoming public hearing being conducted by the NCWRC this month.

Nine public hearing are scheduled throughout the state, and the topic of discussion will be the 39 proposed changes to regulations dealing with fisheries, game lands, and wildlife management for the 2017-18 seasons.

Proposals range from redefining “youth” as anyone under 18-year-old. This would impact youth hunting days, and who can hunt during them, to establishing guidelines for carrying out the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact. Other changes include the manner in which hunters report their big game harvests, and additions and changes to several of the NCWRC’s Game Lands Program.
