New licensing, registration system for NC
Beginning July 1, 2023, the NCWRC will have a new license and vessel registration system. The Go Outdoors NC system is designed to improve the way NC hunters, anglers and boaters purchase licenses and register their watercraft.
This is basically the same system that South Carolina began using within the past few years, and offers some notable benefits.
Part of the new system is the Go Outdoors NC app, which can be downloaded onto any smartphone or other mobile device. With this app, users can purchase licenses, apply for permit hunts, report harvests and apply for and track the vessel registration process, and more.
With the app loaded on your phone, you can have your hunting/fishing license at your fingertips with no need to carry your paper license any longer. You can also load the license of your spouse, kids, and any guests fishing/hunting with you.
The app will also provide you with information like sunrise/sunset times, geo-location features, hunting and fishing regulations, and much more.
During the transition to this new system, North Carolina’s ALVIN system will be unavailable starting June 27 at 5 p.m. through 8 a.m. July 1. If you have a license or registration that expires during that window, or need a new hunting/fishing license, complete your purchase before June 27.
