Female youth hunters played big role on youth day
South Carolina’s youth hunters tested out the woods this past Saturday during youth day of the state’s Game Zones 3 & 4 2020 deer hunting season. It was a hot day, but it didn’t stop a number of young hunters from downing their first deer of the season.
Kahlei Morris of Aiken set the bar high with a 161-pound, 8-point buck in full velvet. She hauled the buck to the Skinning Shack in Aiken. This is sure to be a mount of a lifetime for the young lady hunter.
Before Morris showed up at the Skinning Shack with her buck, the appropriately-named Hunter Lee brought the first one of the day. It was his first buck, an 8-pointer in full velvet.
In Ridgeland, Jason Mock’s ganddaughter Braylyn took care of business on a nice velvet buck with a 225-yard shot.
Lots of smiles from youth hunters on Saturday
Seven-year-old Madelyn Hill of Givhans is another young lady that successfully pulled the trigger Saturday.
Nine-year-old Makenzie Lee of Chesterfield had a trail cam photo of a unique drop-tine buck. She was lucky enough to see the same buck on Saturday morning, and promptly put it on the ground for a successful start to the season.
In Effingham, youth hunter Bradley Barnes checked in a nice 8-point velvet buck to 301 Deer and Wild Hog Processing and Taxidermy.
