‘Shed’ no tears, but spare no effort to find antlers

Antlers can tell you a lot about the bucks that survived the season.

One of the benefits of mid-winter scouting is finding antlers shed by bucks that survived the hunting season, and finding a shed is a true treasure.

Locating sheds in the thick woods of South Carolina is quite a feat, and more and more hunters are spending hours scouring the woods looking for them.

These treasures can tell you a lot about the bucks that survived the season, and finding antlers in January or February will show you where they were living when the season went out.

This is critical in planning for the upcoming late season. Some hunters find late-season hunting difficult, but using this time to scout and finding antlers will point you to where the bucks go after three months of hunting pressure.
