Apply for SC lottery deer hunts by Aug. 15

It’s time to apply for South Carolina’s lottery deer hunts.

Don’t let the deadline slip past

SCDNR will continue to accept applications for the state’s deer lottery hunts on public lands through Aug. 15. Hunters may apply by visiting https://www.dnr.sc.gov/hunting/deerlotterysites.html.

The applications will allow hunters, youth and adult, to hunt areas that are heavily managed for deer, including the multi-site, unrestricted multi-site, Webb Gun, Webb Archery, and South Fenwick Archery lotteries, all of which are operated independently and use separate preference points. The youth deer lotteries do not use preference points at all.

The multi-site application is good for Belfast WMA, Botany Bay WMA, Coosawhatchie HP/WMA, Hamilton Ridge WMA, Palachoucola WMA, and Wateree River Heritage Preserve. These properties all have antler restrictions hunters must follow.

The unrestricted application includes Bear Island, Bonneau Ferry, Donnelley, and Ramsey Grove. These sites do not have antler restrictions.

When filling out the applications, hunters may choose up to 15 site selections.

Youth ages 10-17 may apply for the youth deer hunts, which have no application fee, and do not require a hunting license (except hunters 16- or 17-years-old are required to have a Junior Sportsman’s License at the time of hunt).

North Carolina changes permit hunt deadlines

NCWRC has made some changes to deadlines for permit hunt applications, including the Tundra Swan applications deadline, which has been changed from Oct. 1 to Sept. 1.

Other deadlines for deer and waterfowl permit hunts in North Carolina include September/October hunts (Aug. 10), November hunts (Sept. 1), December hunts (Oct. 1) and January hunts (Nov. 1).

Apply for your hunts through the Go Outdoors NC app, or at ncwildlife.org.
