Carolina Coyote Classic’s 4th annual event Feb. 24, 25, 26
We have plenty of fishing tournaments throughout the Carolinas, even this time of year, but what about hunting tournaments? It would be a logistical nightmare to run a hunting contest in the same manner fishing tournaments are run, but many deer processors run big doe contests, big buck contests, etc, and CarolinaSportsman.com holds an annual Bag-A-Buck contest.
But one of the fastest growing hunting competitions in the Carolinas is coming up on its fourth annual event, and the organizers look for this to be the biggest one yet.
The 4th Annual Carolina Coyote Classic and Outdoor Show is scheduled for Feb. 24, 25, and 26. Each registered hunting team will be given a card with a number on it, and they must take a photo of their harvest with the number card in the photo.
The Classic includes an Adult Hunting Class, a Youth Hunting Class, and a Trapping Class, but hunters must be registered in their desired class. Calls and dogs may be used, and coyotes may be hunted in any county in North and South Carolina. Hunters must follow hunting laws in their respective state.
The hunter who checks in the biggest coyote will win the Predator hunting rifle package with a Sniper Hog Lights rifle light package. Cash prizes will also be awarded to 1st through 3rd place.
Hunters also have the option of registering for the largest female coyote contest by paying an extra $2 when signing up for the Classic, which has a registration fee of $25.
This contest is run by 704 Outdoors, who will also hold a coyote hunting seminar on Feb. 11 at the Bass Pro Shops at Concord Mills in Concord, N.C.
The weigh in will take place each day of the Classic at the American Legion post 76 in Albemarle, N.C. The scales will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday.
