13th Annual Carolina Coyote Classic

The Carolina Coyote Classic is in its 13th year.

Derby Class sees expanded territories

The 13th Annual Carolina Coyote Classic is coming up, and it’s set to be the event’s biggest show yet. With an expanded range for the Derby, coordinator John MacPherson is looking for a huge turnout.

The event will be held Feb. 20 – 22, with weigh in taking place at the Farm Bureau Livestock Arena in Albemarle, NC.

MacPherson said one of the biggest updates for this year’s event is that the Derby portion of the event will now be open to all states east of the Mississippi River. The Fat Dog class will be open only to hunters in the Carolinas and Virginia.

“We had a lot of requests for the Derby to have expanded territories,” he said. “A lot of other states were asking to join in the festivities.”

Hunters participating from those states will be required to bring their coyotes to weigh in, but MacPherson said he expects to see some teams drive in for that based on conversations he’s had with hunters from all over.

Too many prizes to list are being offered in both classes, but you can find all those, as well as more information on the 13th Annual Carolina Coyote Classic by clicking here.
