Sportin’ Life wins $156,750 in Georgetown Blue Marlin Tournament

Inappropriate pockets $135,960

Sportin’ Life, a billfishing boat owned by Graham Eubank and captained by Mike Gleaner, won the biggest pot during this past weekend’s Georgetown Blue Marlin Tournament. The event was the first of three tournaments that will make up the 2021 South Carolina Governor’s Cup Billfishing Series.

The crew of Sportin’ Life finished the tournament outside of the top three with a total of 1046 points. But weighing in a 445.3-pound blue marlin on Thursday helped capture the big payday of $156,750 for them. They also released the first blue of the day on Friday.

Inappropriate, captained by Andy Crews, won the tournament’s top prize for most releases. They racked up a total of 2400 points throughout the event. The crew caught one blue on Thursday, then put on a clinic Friday, releasing three of the prized billfish in an 11-minute flurry. The crew won $135,960.

Reel Hook Up, captained by Stuart Lackey, took second place with 1800 points. They released three blue marlin and earned $101,890.

Bench Mark, captained by Bobby Germany, finished the tournament in third place with 1200 points. They released two blue marlin, and took the third spot based on time over several other boats that also had ended the tournament with 1200 total points. Those boats include Artemis, Callisto, Home Run, Mama Love, Mister Pete, Reel Legacy, and Sea Hound.
