No blue marlin were weighed in on Day Three of Big Rock

Day Three of the 62nd Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament saw much less action than the first two days. No teams boated a blue marlin, so the leaderboard for Heaviest Blue Marlin remains unchanged.

PREDATOR leads with their 494.2 pounder, followed by HATTER-DONE with 488. DANCIN OUTLAW is in third with their 470.4 pound marlin

A little movement took place in the Billfish Release category. LO QUE SEA remains at the top, but improved on their overall score. They now have 2250 points. SEA I SEA moved up to second place from third. Their point total is 1600. POST CALL started the day in fifth and moved up to third place with a total of 1325 points.

At 9:07 a.m., POST CALL got the first release of the day, racking up $5000 for the feat. They did move the wrong way in the Heaviest Dolphin category though. Their 34.8 which had them in second place going into Day Three was surpassed by several other boats, pushing them to seventh in the category.

Meat fish categories saw some movement in the leaderboards

SINGULARIS still leads the dolphin category with the 55.2 pounder they caught on Day Two. PERSISTENCE moved into second with a 47.5-pound mahi. SALT LICK moved into third, catching a 46.2 pounder

C-ESCAPE’s 75.2-pound wahoo from Day Two still has the lead in the Heaviest Wahoo category. HAMMER TIME is in second with a 47.6. ORRSMANN moved into the wahoo leaderboard with a 36.7 pounder on Day Three for third place.

Yesterday, CHUNDA released the 62nd billfish of the 62nd tournament, earning the team $6200.

The majority of boats (128) stayed in on Day Three, taking their lay day to get some rest after the first two busy days. Seventy-six boats fished, releasing 11 blue marlin, one white marlin, and eight sailfish.

As Day Four gets underway, the Fabulous Fisherman’s Payout of $552,500 is still anybody’s prize. That award goes to the first team to bring a 500+ pound blue marlin to the scales.
