Saltwater fishing report for Pamlico, Craven, Carteret, and Onslow Counties

OCEAN: Anglers trolling offshore landed king mackerel, wahoo, dolphin, tuna, barracuda and even some billfish. Anglers trolling near shore landed Spanish mackerel in larger quantities than last week. Those going bottom dropping are seeing good catches of triggerfish, vermilion snapper, amberjacks, grunts, and porgies.

INLETS/SOUNDS/BAYS: Fishing was hit or miss around the inlets, sounds and bays. Anglers fishing in the coastal rivers and marshes had good success with red drum and black drum. Anglers landed the typical mix of spot, Atlantic croaker and pigfish.

PIER/BEACH: The bite was slow on the piers. Some anglers had success with Spanish mackerel, sheepshead, bluefish, sea mullet, Atlantic croaker and pompano while a few anglers caught king mackerel.

Thanks to NCDMF‘s Andrew Malmassoi and Travis Williams for this report.
