The Chasin’ Tails Outdoors 15th Annual Speckled Trout Challenge wrapped up recently, and it was 8-year-old Brantley Simmons taking the win with his 9.59-pound speck. He won $1860, a Dog Island Artworks trout replica and a Star Rods/Shimano-Fishing combo valued at $450.

The young angler beat 62 other anglers, and caught his fish near his home in Beaufort, NC while fishing from the bank.

Second-place angler Richard Gilligan caught an 8.44-pound trout, good enough for $930. He boosted his payday by taking first place in the live-release category, which earned him another $1000. His first-place finish in the TWT put another $4000 in his pockets.

Ryan Carter took first place in the redfish division with a 7.08-pound fish, earning him $660.
