Inman wins 2-day BFL on Kerr Lake

Jimmy Sanders and Kathy Grubbs, both from Asheboro, won the Adam & Eve tournament on Tuckertown Lake on Sept. 11.

Mark Inman of Greensboro won the Aug. 28-29 FLW Bass Fishing League Piedmont Division tournament at Kerr Lake with a 2-day catch of 24 pounds, seven ounces. He took home $4,604, plus a Ranger Cup bonus of $2,000.

Inman’s Sunday catch of 13-6 ranked as the best in the tournament.

Sammy Creech of Kenly had 22-13 to claim the fourth-place award of $1,074, while Danny Haire of Yadkinville finished fifth with 22-13 and banked $921.

Other North Carolina fishermen cashing were: Chris Baldwin of Lexington, sixth with 21 pounds for $844; Jeff Coble of Manson, seventh with 18-9 for $767; Richard Greene of Laurinburg, eighth with 17-15 for $691; Shane Burns of Durham, ninth with 17-14 for $614; and Eddie Daniels of Garner, 10th with 15-6 for $537.

Rougemont’s Dan Glosson took the big-fish award of $540 with a 5-pound, 14-ounce bass.

Among co-anglers, Jeremy Ives of Burgaw finished fourth with 14-10 for $537; William Vierra of Durham ranked sixth with 11-2 for $422; Tyler Purcell of Chapel Hill placed seventh with 11 pounds for $384 — plus the big-fish prize of $270 for his 4-12 lunker — Orlando Giles of Lexington finished eighth with 10-6 for $345; Dan Treadway of Rocky Mount was ninth with 9-11for $307; and Jim Nichols of Chapel Hill was 10th with 6-15 for $269.

Golden third on Chesapeake; Adams in Classic

Pat Golden of High Point placed third with 34 pounds, 12 ounces, winning $8,480, and Tracy Adams of Wilkesboro, finished sixth with 32-8, winning $4,846 at the Sept. 16-18 Bassmaster Northern Open on the Chesapeake Bay.

Adams’ finish boosted him to second place in the Northern Open points standings, which got him a spot in the 2010 Bassmasters Classic, slated for New Orleans in February.

Nate Wellman of Newaygo, Mich., won the tourney with a catch of 53.1 pounds good for $27,257.

Co-angler Mike McDonald of Randleman won $3,057.14 for his second-place catch of 15-12.

Thrift 10th at Chickamauga

Two pros from North Carolina finished in the top 12 in the Sept. 15-18 FLW Series tournament on Tennessee’s Chickamauga Lake.

Bryan Thrift of Shelby finished 10th in the event with a 3-day catch of 36-5, taking home $5,821. Chris Baumgardner of Gastonia was 12th with 36-4 for $5,597.

The only other North Carolina fishermen finishing in the money were: Ron Wolfarth of Oakboro, who was 24th with 30-4 for $5,150.

Mark Rose of Marion, Ark., won the tournament with a 4-day catch of 56-15, worth $50,778.

Jerry Hayden of Charlotte finished third in the co-angler ranks with 23-1 for $3,162.
