Fender Bender bolts into second place on final day of tourney

Fender Bender made it a close call today after bringing in a big blue marlin to the scales of the 2018 Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament on the final day of the show, vaulting into second place with a 514-pound fish. Honey Hush held on to the top spot, winning the tournament with their 518.5 pounder.

Carterican took third place and the Captain’s Purse with their 500.9-pound blue marlin. The Captain’s Purse, a $500,000 prize that goes to the first team to weigh in a blue marlin over 500 pounds, was not claimed by Honey Hush, because Honey Hush did not enter that category at the beginning of the competition.

In the Billfish Release category, Wall Hanger took top honors with 1325 points, followed by Shifting Gears in second with 1200 point. Shenandoah finished third with 1050 points.

Goombay’s 71.1-pound dolphin took first place in the Heaviest Dolphin category. The Heaviest Tuna category went to Reel Country and their 19.9-pound tuna.

Sarcastic took the top spot in the Heaviest Wahoo category with a 74.4-pound wahoo.
