Tagged fish being released specifically for this weekend’s event
What’s better than fishing in the beautiful surroundings of the Southern Appalachians? How about winning $10,000 for catching a fish there? You can do it this weekend by fishing in the rivers of Cherokee’s Qualla Boundary, if you catch the right fish.
This event, the Tim Hill Memorial Trout Tournament will feature tagged trout which are being stocked especially for this tournament, which is open to anglers of all ages, and for all legal methods of fishing.
A 2.2 mile stretch of catch-and-release fishing waters are excluded for this tournament, but all other areas on the Qualla Boundary are fair game.
When anglers catch tagged fish, they can redeem them for cash prizes at the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce/Fly Fishing Museum of the Southern Appalachians on Saturday between the hours of 4 and 6 p.m., and on Sunday from the hours of 12 to 2 p.m.
To enter the tournament, anglers must pay an $11 entry fee on top of the $10 per day fishing permit.
