Tar River shad fishing with Carolina ALL OUT

Catch, clean, cook for Tar River shad

While many sports fans think of this month as March Madness, anglers consider it March Shadness. That’s thanks to the species of fish that invade coastal-run rivers this time of year. These fish are a blast to catch on light tackle, and they’re abundant in places like the Tar River this month.

Chris Douglas from Carolina ALL OUT joins forces with Tar Pam Guide Service to show us what shad fishing in March is all about. But catching is just half the fun. Fishing trips like this lead to great shore lunches. That might sound like it involves carrying too much gear for the average angler, but Douglas shows us that all we need packs into one milk crate.
