Just paddlin’ around

Jim Crouse’s custom-made paddles can be both useful to paddlers and decorative to persons who appreciate the artful side of woodworking.

Next door to Pure Bubba, a tackle shop in Nichols, is a shop where Jim Crouse has been making custom paddles for anglers and collectors for more than 20 years.

Crouse’s paddles, both utilitarian and decorative, are beautiful works of cypress from local trees; they come in sizes from Christmas ornaments to regular paddles for canoes.’

His most-popular paddle might be a 4-inch-wide paddle used by many local anglers to sneak through swamps. Paddles are available by calling him at 843-595-1030.
