Fishing every day for a year

This tilapia was fish 189 of 2024 for Gary Keisler.

Gary Keisler has fished every single day this year

Gary Keisler of Mount Pleasant, SC has vowed to fish every single day of 2024. It’s a personal feat he set for himself at the beginning of the year.

Keisler spends a lot of time tying his own flies, a hobby he picked up during the world-wide shutdown caused by the coronavirus in 2020.

As a self-employed salesman, the pandemic issued a blow to his business. Tying flies and fishing in his neighborhood ponds helped him deal with the change.

Keisler catches everything from largemouth bass to redfish to carp and tilapia, which are often stocked in ponds to help curb weed growth.

He took this photo of himself with a tilapia on Fishing Day 122 of the year. It was the 189th fish of the year for him. He’s keeping a journal of all his catches as a way to commemorate his journey.

Although he set his goal to fish every day of the year at the beginning of 2024, he has come close, fishing 300+ days a year, before.

Gary, we wish you well. The world would be a better place if more folks set the same goal you have.
