Team Coyle leads Big Cat Shootout after Day 1
Day 1 of the December 2021 Blacks Camp Big Cat Shootout was a messy one. Lots of rain fell during the day, making for a muddy mess at the weigh-in site. The event was held at Blacks Camp in Santee Cooper Country on Dec. 10.
But the anglers didn’t mind the rain too much. And that’s because the catfish were biting just fine. The first day of the 2-day event saw plenty of hefty two-fish limits come to the scales where weighmaster Mark Coburn tallied off the weights.
Twenty-eight teams fished, and as Day 1 came to a close, Team Coyle held the top spot with a total weight of 86.25 pounds. Their big fish weighed 49.33.
In second place was Team Reel Down with 85.87 pounds, including their 50.96 big fish. Team Fountain sits in third with a total weight of 81.21 pounds. Their biggest fish weighed 41.48.
Team Wolfe’s Guide Service sits in fourth place going into Day 2 with a total weight of 76.18 pounds, anchored by Paisley June Wolfe’s 49.28-pound blue. Team Last Cast rounded out the top 5 with 73.35 pounds, including a 38.96 pounder.
The Big Fish of Day 1 was a 51.70 pound cat caught by Team Toolman.
Lines go in on Sunday morning for Day 2 of the Blacks Camp Big Cat Shootout, where the first place team will walk away with approximately $7000.
Tune in Sunday afternoon for final results. The following photos are from Day 1.
