Mt. Pleasant’s Richard Crayton (left) and Ricky Scott finished second at the July 29 NBC Yadkin Division tournament at Tuckertown Lake and at the Aug. 12 New Piedmont Team Tournament at Tuckertown Lake.

Two Shelby anglers earned checks at the Aug. 2-5 Forrest Wood Cup event at Lake Ouachita, Ark.

Bryan Thrift, Gain Rookie of the Year, received $50,000 for his fifth-place finish among the pros with a four-fish catch weighing 9 pounds, 12 ounces, and Matt Arey banked $4,000 for his eighth-place finish among the co-anglers with one bass weighing 1-9.

Peter Thliveros of Jacksonville, Fla., won the first-place prize of $250,000 with 39-00 thanks to a 2-ounce penalty assessed to runner-up Steve Kennedy of Auburn, Ala., for a dead fish. Kennedy had 38-14 for $35,500.

Doug Gray, who was well-known around Kerr Lake and who fished the National Bass Circuit Capital Division, was killed in a car accident in Alabama while he was on his way to practice for a bass tournament. Our condolences to his family.
