Haw River’s Inman takes Buggs BFL

Mark Inman of Haw River captured the Sept. 8-9 Wal-Mart BFL tournament at Kerr Lake with 10 bass totaling 23 pounds, 14 ounces.

Mark Inman of Haw River won the Sept. 8-9 Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League North Carolina Division Super Tournament after two difficult days of fishing at Kerr Lake.

Inman had a two-day catch of 10 bass totaling 23 pounds, 14 ounces to earn $5,003.

He fished a crankbait around stumps and brush to catch his fish.

Brad Staley of Mt. Pleasant had nine bass weighing 21-15 to take the second-place prize of $2,943.

Other scores were Cliff Kirby of Catawba, third, with 21-05 for $1,964; Eric Weir of Belmont, fourth, with 21-01 for $1,373; and Daniel Funderburk of Rockwell, fifth, with 18-05 for $1,177.

Dwayne Saunders of Star took the big-fish award of $795 with a 5-pound, 15-ounce bass.

Charlotte’s George Hirapetian won the Co-angler Division with 11-01 and received $2,943.

Other top co-anglers were Bryan Lewis of West Jefferson, second, with 10-07 for $1,472; Bret Love of Salisbury, third, with 10-05 for $980; Chris Hall of Mt. Pleasant, fourth, 9-03 for $687; and Kyle Whisenant of Iron Station, fifth, with 9-00 for $589.

Tom O’ Neal of Holly Spring had the big fish among the co-anglers with a 5-pound, 1-ounce bass and banked $397.

Cherryville’s Guy Eaker finished 39th at the Sept. 13-16 Bassmaster Elite Series Sunshine Showdown at Lake Tohopekaligia, Kissimmee, Florida. He received $10,000 for his catch of 20-11.

Mary Hencken of Belmont finished 23rd at the Sept. 20-22 Women’s Bassmaster Tour at the Red River, Shreveport, La. Hencken’s catch of 13-04 was worth $750.

Laura Gober of Pendergrass, Ga., took the first-place prize of $50,000 with 34-09.

Madison’s Linda Berry placed 24th among the co-anglers with 7-06 and received $400.
