BFL makes final 2011 stop at Lake Hartwell

Lake Hartwell will be the site of the two-day finale of the 2011 South Carolina Bass Fishing League trail on Sept. 10-11.

Lake Hartwell will host the final stop of the 2011 South Carolina Bass Fishing League tournament trail on Sept. 10-11. The two-day event will feature as many as 400 anglers vying for thousands of dollars in prize money.

The winner of the pro division will pocket $11,000, while the top co-angler will take home $4,500.

The summer heat will probably make this a deepwater event, FLW pro Anthony Gagliardi said.

“A lot of the fish are going to be suspended,” the Prosperity angler predicted. “There should be schooling going on throughout the day, which will lead to a good topwater bite.”

There could be a wild-card strategy, however.

“Honestly, the only other thing going on will be some type of shallow pattern up the river,” Gagliardi added. “The shallow bite will be more limited to certain areas of the lake with more color.

“There might be a couple patterns you can get on, but I really don’t think the weights will be all that great throughout the entire field. It should be a typical late summer type bite.”

Takeoffs will be at Clemson Marina (150 Clemson Marina Drive in Seneca), and are scheduled for 7 a.m. each morning.

The Saturday weigh-in will be held at the marina at 3 p.m., while the final weigh-in is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Walmart at 1636 Sandifer Blvd. in Seneca.

Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
