Fishing school scheduled for Winston-Salem March 18

Capt. Ponytail, Rod Thomas, will be one of the speakers at the Triad Saltwater Anglers fishing school in Winston-Salem.

Freshwater and saltwater topics will be covered

If you live in North Carolina’s Piedmont, love fishing and have been looking for ways to catch more fish, you don’t have to travel very far.

Triad Saltwater Anglers is holding a fishing school on March 18 at the Quality Inn and Suites in Winston-Salem, N.C. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

Saltwater speakers will include Jody Gay, the owner of Blue Water Candy lures, headboat captain Dave Tilley of saltwatercentral.com, Butch Foster of Yeah Right Charters, John Cawthern of Procrastinator sport fishing, Stewart Merritt of Salt Air Ventures, king mackerel experts Dieter Cardwell and Mike Lundy, Jeff Koen of Fish IBX, Roy Barrow of Wacky Riggers and Rod Thomas of Captain Ponytail Guide Service.

Topics will include bottom-fishing, king mackerel fishing, inshore fishing, offshore fishing, sonar and cast-net use.

Freshwater speakers will include Foster, Koen, guide Maynard Edwards of Extreme Fishing Concepts and David Diggs of Santee Special Fishing.

Topics will include catfish and gamefish tactics, striper fishing in reservoirs, finding and fishing offshore structure for bass, how to catch huge crappie and other catfish, tackle advice and cast-net use.

Triad Saltwater Anglers is a non-profit organization that raises funds to support Military Appreciation Days in Morehead City, N.C. and Southport, N.C., local reef associations and Child’s Wish in Southport.
