Lots of fishermen will go straight to a shaded bank to look for shallow bass, figuring their approach is a little more covered in a low-light situation, but bass pro Tracy Adams of Wilkesboro said that may not give fishermen much of an edge on Lake Hickory.
“This time of the year, the bass are gonna be out where that nice sunlight will get to ‘em in that warm water,” Adams said. “They won’t be in full shade, and looking for ‘em way up under docks won’t be good.
“You can catch ‘em on the shady side, but you won’t be able to see ‘em. You just pitch everywhere that looks like a likely spot.”
When he approaches a boat dock, Adams is looking for fish to be around the outside pier posts, on the sunny side of the docks.
