When Berkley’s line of Gulp! products hit the market several years ago, the line that caught the angling world’s attention was that it “outfished live bait” — a pretty strong statement.
The word, “outfished” was the key. Live bait doesn’t cast well or stay on the hook well, and when left on a hook, it will soon die. Add in the time of year live bait is hard to come by and you start to see where an artificial bait that closely resembles live bait, definitely smells like something to eat, and performs on a hook 10 times better could make this claim.
The new generations of Gulp! products are entitled Gulp! Alive! These baits are 20-percent more powerful than previous generation Gulp! baits, while being offered in color schemes that are designed to be more visible to fish. Gulp! Alive! is also available in shapes that are spot-on resemblances of typical inshore forage, including: eels, sandworms, crabs, mullet, menhaden and mud minnows.
One of the most popular, however, is shrimp — possibly because everything that swims in the sea will eat shrimp. Gulp! Alive! shrimp can be rigged and fished using any technique appropriate for live shrimp.
Gulp! Saltwater Shrimp come in 3- and 4-inch sizes and are available in nuclear chicken, root beer gold, molting, natural shrimp, new penny, and pearl white.
