13-point buck goes down on opening day
Derrick Rowland of Pelham, NC killed a 13-point buck in Rockingham County, NC on Sept. 12, 2026.
He shot the buck with a Mathews LIFT during an evening hunt while sitting in an elevated stand from 33 yards away.
Rowland summed up the hunt with these words:
“It had been 12 days since he daylighted last, so expectations were low at the opportunity to lay eyes on this fella!!! Well as luck would have it, only took 50 minutes into my very first sit of 2026 he showed up and presented the shot at 33 yards and the rest was history!!!
Very first archery opening day buck I’ve ever taken, and to be such a unique buck is awesome!!”
Rowland is now entered in our Bag-A-Buck Contest, and is eligible to win our monthly prize pack, which includes a set of Ultimate Eyes & Ears Combo from ShellShock Pro, a YETI Rambler bottle, a prize package from Buck Commander and Duck Commander, and a Carolina Sportsman hat, as well as our Grand Prize, a 2-day hunt for two to Cherokee Run Hunting Lodge in Chesterfield County, SC.
