Youth Day turkey weighed 20 pounds
Cooper Franklin, 12, of Johnston, SC, took down a nice 20-pound gobbler on Youth Day, March 31, 2024 after a very exciting morning in the woods. Gobbles were coming from all directions, triple gobbles at times. Two coyotes came in from different directions looking for the birds. When four gobblers finally appeared, Cooper shot the lead turkey at 40 yards. After the bird went down, his three buddies jumped on him for about 20 minutes. What a thrilling time. The bird had a 10-inch beard and 1-inch spurs.
