First gobbler for Genelle Douglas

first gobbler

Genelle Douglas of Sanford, N.C. killed her first gobbler on April 16, 2022 in Lee County while hunting with her husband Chris Douglas. She was happy and proud, but Chris, the host of Carolina ALL OUT, may have been even more proud of her accomplishment.

He had this to say of the hunt:

“I couldn’t be more thrilled and proud of my best friend Genelle Douglas! For over 30 years, she’s put up with me and my ‘obsession’ with hunting. She’s gone out on a few scouting trips for deer and turkey and sat in the stand a few times to watch and even video me, but never seemed to be interested in doing it herself.

She said a few years ago that she might be able to shoot a turkey. I had to have her repeat herself, but it was true — she said it! So 2 years later we find ourselves tucked in on the edge of a field with a bird gobbling his head off in the darkness. He flew down, left his hens to come see what all the squawkin’ was all about, and ran the last 50 yards to stop the unauthorized fraternizing of our two decoys. That was all she wrote! It’s going down in my book as one of the best hunts of my life!”
