Ben Maynard killed his first turkey while hunting with Ross Moncourtois on Opening Day of North Carolina’s Youth Season. To make the hunt even more special, it was a double-bearded gobbler. The hunt took place in Carteret County. The turkey’s longest beard measured 10.5 inches long, and the second beard was 9 inches long. The bird had 1.25-inch spurs.
