This is my first year hunting close with thick cover. I’ve learned and witnessed a lot, like bucks can grunt for half a minute. The morning before, I rattled a nice 8 point in and watched him put on a show. Seeing how fired up he was but still seemed nervous I knew he wasn’t my dominate buck. Wednesday morning was slow, quiet, and little wind. At 8 am I began a medium/hard rattle. A small 8 point came in and was real nervous, backing up for about 20 yards. I believe he was like a live decoy because it was about 3 minutes later swamp donkey came out and gave me about a 30 yard neck shot with the 7mm08. It’s undetermined but I think it’s my biggest buck yet.
