1st 8pt Buck in Archery

This was as evening hunt over our food plot for my son and myself. My son was using his crossbow. We had watched this buck on camera for about a month. He had been coming in mostly overnight and evenings shortly after last light. A few days prior to this hunt, he changed up his pattern and had come in about 20 minutes before last light on a few days. We decided to go sit and put out a few bags of apples in the food plot. Sure enough, with about 10 minutes of light left, he came in and picked through the plot for a couple minutes and then went straight to the apples. He stopped at 19 yards quartered towards us and we were down to just a couple minutes of light and my son made a fantastic quartered to “brisket shot”, hitting the buck just forward of the right shoulder with the arrow coming out low, behind the left shoulder. The deer ran right under our stand and went down in the woods, 15 yards behind our stand in the woods. This was my son’s 1st 8-point buck during archery season.
