Afternoon

Just got in the ladder stand when I dropped a glove and it landed at the base of the ladder. I climbed down got my glove and hurried back into the stand. I had been sitting in the stand maybe 15 minutes when a doe walked out in a lane to the right of the stand. Right behind her was a buck with his head down. Now I haven’t been hunting but maybe 8-9 years so I hadn’t got to see something like this before sitting in the stand. The doe and buck stopped just in a bit of the thicket. I was able to look at him through my binoculars to see him panting hard. At this time, I had not got to see a deer of his size in the flesh. I put down my binoculars and grabbed my Stevens 334. I was afraid I was going to spook him but all he was worried about was the doe. I put him in my sights and waited what seemed like forever for him to turn so I could take the shot. When he turned, it was the perfect opportunity. I shot and he immediately started to crash through the brush while trying to run. He ran into the lane adjacent to where I shot and crashed at the bottom of a tree. Buck fever set in and it was amazing! I was so excited as he is my second buck I have ever taken. Immediately I called my wife and girls to spread the good news. Total time from sitting to shooting was only about 30 minutes but it was one of my greatest hunting experiences.
