He killed 11-point buck at new location

Thomas Evans of Ellerbe, NC killed a big 11-point buck in Cheraw, SC on Sept. 7, 2024. He shot the buck, which he’d observed through trail camera photos leading up to the hunt, with a Remington 700 .308 from 225 yards away.

Evans was in an elevated stand when he shot the buck. The deer ran about 120 yards before expiring.

“I went into a new area three days earlier, and found good sign,” said Evans. “I put a camera on the sign and immediately got daytime pictures.”

He wasted no time.

“I hunted him the next day, and killed him on the first sit,” he said. “He was one of the last of 13 or 14 deer that I saw that evening.”

The buck has been green scored at 144 5/8 inches.
