8-point buck

8-point buck was in full velvet

Taylor Apple of Burlington, NC arrowed an 8-point buck in full velvet during a hunt in Alamance County on Sept. 7, 2024. She shot the buck with a TenPoint crossbow from about 25 yards away.

Apple, a pitcher for the East Carolina Pirates softball team, took a day off to travel back home to Burlington for Opening Day, and she was able to harvest the nice buck, which has been green-scored at 130 inches.

It was a deer Apple had observed through trail cam photos leading up to the hunt.
