13-point buck dropped in its tracks
My fiancée and I were sitting in a tree stand on the edge of a hardwood forest in Lexington County, SC. We could hear a group of deer getting up off the bed around 8 p.m. It was a short walk from his bedding area to the opening where he appeared about 30 yards from our stand. A single round from a Remington bolt action .308 dropped him in his tracks. At first, we didn’t know how big he was, and once I started counting points and ended up at 13, I began to understand just what a trophy we had harvested. It was a big surprise to find such an animal this close in our small town.
