Youth hunter is first entrant of 2023 Contest
On Aug. 12, Mallary Ann Matthews, 9-years-old from Alcolu, SC killed this 7-point buck in full velvet on South Carolina’s first youth day of the 2023 deer hunting season. The buck was in full velvet and weighed 150 pounds. The young hunter has been looking forward to this day for some time.
“She has been watching a few nice bucks on camera for a couple of weeks. Her daddy gave her the option of which stand to hunt this morning, and I’m so glad she picked the right one. We are so proud of her!” said her mom, Tiffany Matthews.
