I had been following this deer now for the last two years. I climbed up the morning of the 23rd in my climber. It was in the high 30s low 40s. At 7:55 I decided to rattle and grunt. I put away my rattling antlers and was still standing up stretching when I looked up and saw this 10 pointer running directly to me at 7:58. He had came behind me in thick pines so I never heard him come in. I grabbed my rifle using the tree as a rest as I was facing behind the way my climber was positioned. In the process of waiting for the buck to give me a shot I hit the mag release with my elbow and my magazine fell down and landed on the bottom piece of my climber making a loud thump. The deer got skittish and turned around. He started walking off and gave me a clear shot. I took the shot and the deer ran 30 yards. At the time I did not realize it was the deer I was watching for the last two years. I just knew it was a big buck.
